Review of January 2014 Ipsy Bag

Hello all!

Today I will be reviewing my January ipsy bag. There won't be many un-boxing pictures, since I received this item a couple of weeks ago before I started this blog. I decided to go back and take full pictures and post a review of what I received.

For those of you that don't know, ipsy is a monthly beauty subscription that specializes in sending out full and sample sizes of mostly make-up products. Sometimes they will send out hair/skin care products, but they are mostly known for being a make-up service.

The cost: $10 a month (shipping is free!)

How it works: When you sign up for ipsy, you fill out a beauty quiz, and ipsy uses this to fill your bag with items that will work for you. Some items are still hit and miss but for the most part ipsy has been dead on with my quiz results!

Now onto the products!

In my bag I received the following: Benefit the POREfessional, (MALIN+GOETZ) Mojito Lip Balm, Balanced Guru Balm Me Up Body Balm, Absolute! makeup removing wipes, and Yaby liquid foundation.

Benefit the POREfessional

This sample size is TINY. I posted a picture of it next to my phone for comparison. It's about the size of my thumb. The full size of this product is 0.75 oz and retails for $30.00. This sample size is 0.1 oz and is valued at $4.00.
I have only used this product a few times & I love it so far. It is slightly tinted as it goes on your skin and blends out beautifully. I actually really enjoy the scent of this too! I have large pores and have noticed a big difference when I wear this under my makeup. I will definitely be being a full size when my sample runs out.

(MALIN + GOETZ) Mojito Lip Balm

This lip balm is FULL SIZE! This product retails for $12.00. That pays for the bag itself! I am in love with the way this feels on my lips. It goes on smooth and leaves my lips feeling so soft. The only thing that is a little odd is the way you apply it. There's no applicator wand, so you have to use your fingers to apply. However, I will definitely purchase this again once I run out of this tube.

Balanced Guru Balm Me Up Body Balm

The full size of this product is 4oz and retails for $45.00. This sample is 1oz and is valued at $12.00. This sample also pays for the cost of the bag! When I first pulled this out of my bag, I was pretty excited to see how well it worked. The scent is a little off to me. It's not that it smells bad, it's just a scent that is completely new to me and it's odd. It's sort of tangy and citrus-y, yet there's also a hint of coconut. The balm makes my skin very soft, however it can be a bit on the greasy side, which I am not a fan of. I will use up what is in this sample but I don't think I'll be purchasing another.

Absolute! makeup removing wipes

In my bag this month I received the pomegranate scented wipes, although they were sampling both this scent and cucumber. This pack includes 10 wipes and retails for $2.49. These wipes are very effective at removing makeup, however this particular scent is extremely strong and off-putting. I do love a good makeup wipe for when I'm feeling lazy at night, but I don't believe that I'll be repurchasing these wipes.

Yaby liquid foundation

This is another full size product, retailing for $13.55. I am extremely picky when it comes to foundations, and my first impression of this was not a very good one. Ipsy sent out one color to everyone who received this, and that shade was Buff. I feel like it's still a little too dark/orange-y for my winter skin, so I may save this to try in the summer with a tan. It seems to be a good light to medium coverage foundation, but I really prefer a full coverage.

One other thing that I like about Ipsy is that every month they send out their products in a makeup bag. This month's bag was pretty decent, although the odor of it when I first opened it was so strong that I had to let it air out for a few days. Now it is fine and I will plan to use this bag as a travel makeup bag.

Overall, I paid $10 for my bag and received $44.04 worth of products! This is definitely a good deal and I will use just about everything I received!

Hello!

Hello everyone!

Since I am constantly posting picture-only posts on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter of my boxes, I thought I should take that one step further by posting pictures and full reviews of each box I receive and their products. Subscription boxes have introduced me to so many new products that I never would have tried otherwise, and I have found some wonderful additions to my daily routine! I have become so hooked on these boxes that I even have a monthly box delivered for my dog. :) I hope that through this blog you can all find some wonderful recommendations!

P.S. - be on the lookout for a new post tomorrow, my Glossybox is scheduled to arrive! :)

P.P.S. - please excuse the messy page for now, I am still learning how to set everything up and make it look pretty. :)
